Odessa Police Charge Man in Connection to Striking & Evading OPD Unit

Odessa Police have charged Ridge Tyler Johnson, date of birth 12/25/1991, with Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant “1st Degree Felony” and Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle “State Jail Felony”.

On 8-26-19 at approximately 2305 hours, an OPD officer was traveling in the area of University and Golder when her patrol unit was intentionally struck three times by gray 2016 Nissan Versa.

The driver of the Nissan Versa, later identified as Johnson, evaded officers while traveling eastbound on the wrong side of the road. Johnson almost struck another OPD unit head on. OPD pursued the Nissan Versa into Midland, where several other agencies joined the pursuit.

Johnson was eventually taken into custody by the Midland County Sheriff’s Officer after a foot pursuit. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Johnson was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Midland County Jail.
