Odessa Police Offering Tips about Hazard Lights
The Odessa Police Department would like to remind motorists about the proper uses of flashing hazard lights. Hazard lights are frequently used inappropriately by many motorists and can become a potential hazard.
You should not turn on hazard lights while speeding or driving much slower than the flow of traffic. You should also not use hazard lights while being towed. Turn signals are generally disabled when your hazard lights are on and can cause confusion for other motorists.
You should only use your hazard lights when your vehicle becomes a temporary hazard for other motorists such as:
a) Pulling off to the side of the road (Ex: being pulled over by police)
b) Driving in a funeral procession
c) Your vehicle is experiencing mechanical issues
