City Athletic Complex Receives State Award
The UTPB Athletic Complex is the 2017 Athletic Complex of the Year according to the Texas Turfgrass Association.
The complex, located in the UTPB Park at the corner of 191 and Loop 338, features 14 softball fields and three full size soccer fields. The turf, a hybrid Bermuda grass, is maintained year round by the parks and recreation staff.
State softball and soccer tournaments are hosted at the complex on an annual basis.
Cities throughout Texas compete for the Texas Turfgrass Association’s award and recognition. Congratulations to the Parks and Recreation staff for continuing to provide the best parks in Texas for Odessans to enjoy.
The UTPB Park was renovated in 1994 to include 12 soccer fields, a larger parking lot, an expanded playground, basketball courts, tennis courts and irrigation ponds. Now the 100 acre park is complete with the Junior League Jurassic Jungle Sprayground.
For more than seventy years the Texas Turfgrass Association (TTA) has worked to improve and advance the standards for professionals working the turfgrass industry.
