Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Burglary/Assault Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Fernando Flores, date of birth 12/14/1994, on 1-20-18 at approximately 0049 hours for Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Another Felony “1st Degree Felony”, Assault Causing Bodily Injury (Family Violence) “Class A Misdemeanor”, and Interfering with an Emergency Call “Class A Misdemeanor”.
Officers responded to 2550 West 8th Street (Woodcrest Apartments) in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 21-year-old female and her ex-boyfriend, identified as Flores. Officers observed that the door had been kicked in and that the door frame and locking mechanism were broken.
Investigation revealed that Flores was not allowed inside the apartment and that he had kicked the locked door in to gain entry. Flores then grabbed his ex-girlfriend by the hair and threw her into the kitchen. Flores then knocked the phone out of his ex-girlfriend’s hand and began assaulting her while she was attempting to call 9-1-1.
Officers observed bodily injury on the ex-girlfriend’s left wrist, which was consistent with her story of being thrown into the kitchen. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Flores was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Burglary of a Habitation Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Linda Marlene Letcher, date of birth 07/19/1949, on 1-20-18 at approximately 1751 hours for Burglary of a Habitation “2nd Degree Felony”. Officers responded to the 1500 block of East 42nd Street in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the 60-year-old complainant, who advised that an unknown female was inside of his residence.
Officers made contact with the female subject, identified as Letcher. Investigation revealed that Letcher made entry into the residence through the front door and took property that did not belong to her. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Letcher was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
Odessa Police Charge Man in Connection to Aggravated Assault Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Jacobi Montavius Owens, date of birth 08/25/1997, on 1-20-18 at approximately 2200 hours for Possession of Cocaine “State Jail Felony” and two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Warrants) “2nd Degree Felony”. Officers responded to the 1300 block of Bonham in reference to a wanted subject.
Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject matching the suspect’s description. The suspect ran out the back door and later located hiding in a neighbor’s backyard. The suspect, identified as Owens, was found to be in possession of cocaine. Owens was also found to have two aggravated assault warrants.
Back on 12-31-17, Odessa Police responded to the 1300 block of Bonham in reference to an incomplete 9-1-1 call. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 19-year-old female, who advised that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, identified as Owens. Investigation revealed that Owens got mad at his girlfriend because she refused to give him money.
Investigation revealed that Owens threatened his girlfriend and damaged the phone, preventing her from calling 9-1-1. Further investigation revealed that Owens threatened his girlfriend with a knife on two separate occasions. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, OPD detectives obtained two warrants for Owens.
