Odessa Police Charge Woman in Connection to Burglary Investigation
Odessa Police charged Penney Ybarra, date of birth 08/04/1973, on 1-2-18 with Burglary of a Habitation (Warrant) “2nd Degree Felony”. Ybarra was already in custody at the ECLEC on unrelated charges. Back on 9-5-17, Odessa Police responded to the 900 block of Rebecca Road in reference to a burglary of a habitation.
Investigation revealed that someone made forced entry into the residence through a bedroom window and stole several pieces of jewelry and electronics. On 9-6-17, OPD detectives discovered that a female subject had pawned the stolen jewelry at Cash America Pawn located at 1000 North County Road West.
The pawn ticket showed that a “Penny Serna” had pawned the stolen items. The burglary suspect was later determined to be Penney Ybarra. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, OPD detectives obtained a warrant for Ybarra, who was eventually charged accordingly.
Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Burglary/Assault Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Gabriel Granado Munoz, date of birth 11/07/1995, on 1-3-18 at approximately 0600 hours for Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit another Felony “1st Degree Felony”. Officers responded to 6201 East Highway 80 (MCM Grande Fundome) in reference to a burglary and assault.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 22-year-old female, who advised that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, identified as Munoz. Investigation revealed that Munoz made entry into the hotel room by breaking a window and pushing it off its tracks. Munoz proceeded into the room and grabbed his girlfriend by her right leg.
Munoz attempted to pull his girlfriend out of bed and threatened to kill her to teach her a lesson. Odessa Police searched the area and located Munoz in the North parking lot of the hotel. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Munoz was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.
Man Arrested 7th Time for Driving While Intoxicated after Nearly Causing an Accident
Odessa Police arrested Donald Herrin, date of birth 08/06/1941, on 1-3-18 at approximately 2225 hours for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More “3rd Degree Felony”. Officers observed a red 2008 Dodge Ram weaving in and out of traffic while nearly striking other vehicles in the 2200 block of Kermit Highway.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and the listed vehicle struck a raised curb while coming to a stop. The driver of the listed vehicle, identified as Herrin, was placed into custody for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests. Investigation revealed that Herrin had 6 prior DWI convictions. Herrin was charged and arrested accordingly.
