Public Meeting - Groundwater Contamination
- Date: 09/19/2019 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
- Location: Salinas Park
600 West Clements
Odessa, Texas 79761
ODESSA – Groundwater, underneath property adjacent to the city limits, was found to have been contaminated by oilfield service and supply operations. The responsible party has come forward and wishes to re-mediate the contamination. Texas state law requires the Odessa City Council and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to give permission to do so. The result of approval would be an ordinance which would prohibit future use of this water for potable use (drinking, showering, bathing, cooking, or for irrigating crops intended for human consumption).
Upon investigation by the City of Odessa, it was determined that this contamination does not affect the City of Odessa’s water source.
Should you have any concerns, there will be a public meeting and a public hearing for which you are encouraged to attend.
