The Odessa Police Department takes sexual crimes against children seriously and have focused a section of our Criminal Investigations Bureau to efficiently investigate such claims. Citizens are urged to bring forth all information pertaining to the sexual abuse of children, as each claim will be investigated to Our fullest ability, and any such actors that would sexually abuse a child will be arrested.
The Odessa Police Department often participates in online criminal investigations into the solicitation of minors with other law enforcement agencies, and such investigations are maintained in a manner that secures evidence that will assist the criminal felony case. Any information that has been presented to the Department that indicates sexual inappropriate activity has occurred within the city limits of Odessa will be investigated and once probable cause has been established, the case will be presented to the Ector County District Attorney’s Office for review.
The Odessa Police Department appreciates the public’s concern in this matter, but we do not advise taking the law into your own hands. Even though these privately conducted sting operations are not illegal, they are dangerous and could potentially interfere with ongoing criminal investigations.
