The City of Odessa has secured victory in its legal battle against the Odessa American for the third time.
The Texas Supreme Court today rejected the Odessa American's Petition for Review, upholding the Texas Eleventh Court of Appeals' decision from March 16, 2023, which favored the City of Odessa.
The 161st District Court previously ruled in favor of the City of Odessa in this matter.
One of the City of Odessa's attorneys, Keith Stretcher, stated, "When we were employed by the
City of Odessa, and after a thorough review of the Odessa American's lawsuit and a review of the evidence, it was clear to us that the City of Odessa had complied in all respects with the Texas Public Information Act."
Stretcher added, "It is important to note that this is the third court to find that the City of Odessa did not violate any provisions of the Texas Public Information Act."
