[ARCHIVED] Losing a child to cancer

Denise Villa

Denise VillaBows
Last year, Denise Villa, the owner of Simplee Posh Boutique, was going through the worst moments of her life. She lost her youngest child to cancer; her little girl was only two years old. The Odessa woman said she almost closed her doors because the anxiety and depression were too much. However, she decided to keep her doors open and use it as a way to help her heal. Her boutique has helped keep her mind busy, and she's surrounded by her daughter's memories.

Some background on the boutique. It opened in 2010 but closed in 2015 and reopened in April 2020. She went from a boutique to making custom signs and banners for people to use during COVID. Once COVID was over, she reopened the boutique. In fact, Denise adopted the sign-making and embroidery in her boutique.

This mom of five has one of the only boutiques in downtown Odessa. She also has a giving spirit and helps other local businesses by having a section in her store dedicated to showing off some of their goodies!
