Like many students in college, Kimberlee Lujan had a hard time making her mind up on her future. There was a time she thought she wanted to be a doctor, teacher, lawyer, and counselor. Then, it clicked! She could do a little bit of everything she was passionate about as a police officer.
Officer Lujan has been with the Odessa Police Department for almost a year. She graduated from UTPB, majoring in psychology and minoring in criminology. Her favorite class took a closer look at serial killers. She was fascinated with their turning point in life, whether childhood trauma or rejection.
We also talked about being a woman in a male-dominated field. She says her parents were a bit concerned at first. However, she credits them for teaching her you can do anything you want. She comes from strong-minded women. Her mom, grandma, and aunt have been fantastic role models.
She is proud to be part of the Odessa Police Department. Officer Lujan describes it as a “family!” She’s also grateful to be part of a wonderful city that backs the blue.
If you see her around, make sure to say hello!
