Almost a year ago, Eric Sullivan became an officer with the Odessa Police Department. Growing up, he was homeschooled and inspired by watching Transformers, specifically Optimus Prime. His family says he’s similar to the fictional character and always had that “protector” quality.
His father, Jason Sullivan, graduated from OPD’s Citizens Police Academy last night. It’s a 12-week program designed to give the public a behind-the-scenes look at OPD.
“I don’t think ordinary citizens understand what they go through every day and how shorthanded the department is,” said Jason.
Jason is so proud of his son, and Eric is proud of his father for going through the program. Eric is excited about his future with OPD. He enjoys patrolling our streets.
“I try to always be kind to people,” said Eric.
His hope is to also become part of the SWAT team.
