According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1 in 4 vehicles on the road have an open safety recall that still hasn’t been fixed. The Odessa Police Department would like to remind the public to check their vehicles for safety recalls.
1) Checking often for open recalls helps you stay safe and can prevent you and your loved ones from being involved in a crash.
2) Don’t assume that you’ll get a recall notice by mail. It can be difficult for manufacturers to find and alert you, especially if you own an older or used vehicle.
3) Ignoring a recall can lead to costly damages and getting your vehicle fixed is free. Contact any dealer to for a repair appointment and to confirm that parts are available.
4) Please go to www.checktoprotect.org and enter the VIN # to find out if your vehicle has an open recall.
