“It’s been hard watching him go through this and the multiple surgeries. But he’s been strong and optimistic through it all,” said Kayla White, Josh White’s wife.
Those close to Josh White say he has a true spirit of selflessness, always the first to lend a helping hand. Soon, the OFR firefighter and paramedic will start chemo. He was recently diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, Appendiceal Cancer.
“Josh is one of the best paramedics in our department and spends much of his time teaching and mentoring other paramedics and EMTs,” said Odessa Fire Rescue Chief Jason Cotton.
Josh also comes from a family of firefighters. His wife was recently a firefighter/paramedic for OFR, and his father-in-law is retired from OFR. Josh also works as a skills instructor for the Odessa College EMT/Paramedic program.
Kayla and Josh have been married for five years and have two young children, ages three and five. As you can imagine, this has been an emotional time for the family. Josh has many more treatments/procedures ahead of him.
If you would like to help out with their mounting medical bills, you can help take part in this fundraiser:
