Today, Odessa Police Chief Mike Gerke, Odessa Police Sergeant Scottie Smith, and Yvonne Cadra received a distinguished award from the “Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.”
Yvonne was there in honor of her late husband Dennis Cadra, an Ector County prosecutor. They were given this award for their exemplary leadership and dedication toward the James Reyos
Case. A jury found him guilty of killing a priest at a hotel in Odessa back in 1981.
They were nominated for this award for their exemplary leadership and dedication toward the Reyos Case. Reyos was in prison most of his life, but an investigation by the Odessa Police Department proved there was no way he could have been guilty.
