The restaurant lives up to its name! “Amigo’s” seems to be a place filled with friends. When we stopped today, we met Ruben Rodriguez (seen in a pic). He’s lived in Odessa for 52 years and has numerous rental properties including this one. He rents it to the restaurant’s owner, Betty Hernandez.
Amigo’s has been there since 2007 and Betty took it over two years ago. She has now lived in Odessa for 19 years and says she came to America on vacation and never left.
Betty’s boyfriend stopped by as well. He’s Darrell Gammons and we got a picture of them together. We asked him if that old saying was true, “Is a way to a man’s heart through his stomach?”
“I’ve gained about 20 pounds since we started dating back in August,” said Gammons with a laugh and a big smile on his face.
It’s hard to resist the authentic food at Amigo’s. Betty makes fresh tortillas every day and her food comes right off the grill!
