New information on a road project that will soon be happening.
31st Street, from Andrews Hwy to N. Dixie Blvd, will soon be getting a makeover. The pavement reconstruction project is slated to start on April 10th. In the meantime, we're asking for patience as we work to make this area better in our city. The work will consist of removing the existing asphalt and base material. There will also be some concrete curb and gutter work as well as sidewalk removal/replacement. Then, a new base material will be brought in and the asphalt driving surface will be placed.
The project was awarded to Permian Paving, Inc. in the amount of $1,450,000.00 with a total of 120 working days for the project.
31st Street is not wide enough to keep two lanes of traffic open and a work zone. For this project, sections of the corridor will be closed to traffic to perform the work.
This project will be broken into two phases:
Phase 1 – Will close the outer ends of the project. 31st Street between Andrews Hwy to Muskingum Ave and Roger Ave to Dixie will be closed for construction.
Phase 2 – Will close the middle section of the corridor. 31st Street between Muskingum Ave to Roger Ave will be closed for construction.
As we mentioned, phase 1 is anticipated to begin April 10th and last for about two months. During this period of roadway closures, drivers will be required to seek alternate routes.
