August 31st is an important day here in Odessa, a time to remember and reflect.
"I think we always have to emphasize the victims. Remember the suffering, the loss. Let them know, that our prayers go out to them and they're always in our thoughts," said Chief Michael Gerke.
Chief Gerke is among the local leaders who will be featured in a special video. We'll be posting it tomorrow. It's also meant to inspire you!
You'll also hear from the Davis family. Anderson Davis, 4 years old now, was the youngest of the mass shooting survivors.
We hope you will join us on the UTPB campus at 7 am for a special remembrance ceremony. You're being asked to wear yellow and engage in an act of service or an act of kindness that day.
OPD also plans to live stream the event on our FB, LinkedIn and Twitter pages. #OdessaStrong
