Parks Foundation Dollar Donation Program

Hundreds of thousands of dollars in improvements have happened at Odessa’s Neighborhood Parks thanks to citizen’s monthly donation of one dollar on their City utility bills. 

Renovations & Improvements

The Parks Foundation Dollar Donation Program was created to help fund improvements at Odessa’s parks and recreation facilities. Since the utility dollar donation program began in July of 2007 Odessa’s children are climbing, playing and swinging on new equipment at four of Odessa’s neighborhood parks.

Renovations were completed to the following parks:

  • Jim Parker
  • Juan Ramirez
  • Lawndale
  • Lions Club
  • Mark Henderson
  • McKinney
  • Murry Fly
  • O'Conner
  • Optimist
  • Progressive
  • Royalty
  • Salinas
  • San Jacinto
  • Sherwood
  • Slator
  • Western Manor
  • Woodson

Climbing features, spring riders and spinning riders are some of the exciting new elements introduced at the parks. In addition to the playground equipment artificial turf was installed to create a safer environment for children at play.

Future Plans

Future projects being considered include the development of three new playgrounds in three future developed neighborhood parks.
