The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for creating and maintaining a system of parks and recreational facilities dedicated to providing quality services to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Odessa. It is also responsible for offering various training classes and activities. The department also works with local recreation associations providing various sports programs.
Persons wishing to use drones on park property must adhere to the following guidelines:
- You must be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and observe all regulations as administered by the FAA.
- Pictures or videos of park property with the intent to advertise, market, or distribute must be approved by the City of Odessa Parks & Recreation Department.
- You must email Max Reyes, and state the date you wish to fly, the purpose of the flight, which park you will be flying at, and what times the flight is scheduled to start and end.
- You must not interfere with any individual engaged in the act of flying a kite. You must maintain a safe distance so as to not become entangled with the kite or line.
Metal detector use on park property is prohibited unless it is being used for the recovery of personal effects lying on the surface of the park.
Any digging on park property is strictly prohibited.
