The Public Works Department includes Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Street, Solid Waste, Building Inspection, Household Hazardous Waste Management, Building Services, and Equipment Services and it maintains plans for short and long term Capital Improvements programs. Matt Squyres is the Director of Public Works. Matt was raised in Denver City and graduated from Denver City High School, then attended the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to coming to work for the City of Odessa in 1984, he worked for the Texas Department of Transportation and a consultant engineering firm involved with subdivision development work in Midland. Matt has been the Director of Public Works since 1993. As Public Works Director, Matt supervises the Engineering, Building Inspection, Street, Traffic, Solid Waste Divisions, and Equipment and Building Services Departments. These divisions provide maintenance, construction, and inspection services for construction of improvements inside the City of Odessa.
