Employee Benefits Package
 
 
 
Holidays 
Ten and one-half paid holidays per year. They are as follows: New Year's Day, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve (1/2 day), Christmas day and a Floating Holiday (must be taken between Jan. 2 and Oct. 31).
Unileave 
Unileave may be taken in one hour increments and has unlimited accrual. Unileave accrual will be compensated upon termination of employment at the rate of one-for-one.
0 - 4 years of service: 17 work days per year
5 - 9 years of service: 22 work days per year
10 or more years: 27 work days per year.
Military 
Will be granted in compliance with State and Federal laws when copies of military orders are furnished to supervisors.
TMRS or FFFR 
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) is a mandatory retirement program for full time employees except Fire personnel. Employee contributes 7% of their gross income and will draw a variable amount of interest each year. Upon retirement, the City matches the funds 2 to 1. Employee contribution to TMRS is tax deferred until such time the employee receives their deposits in the form of a refund of contributions upon termination of employment or a monthly retirement benefit. Fire Department personnel are enrolled in the Odessa Fire Fighter's Relief and Retirement Fund. Thirteen percent (13%) of Fire personnel's pre-tax monthly earnings are withheld by the City and deposited in the non-interest bearing Odessa Fire Fighter's Relief and Retirement Fund.
Health Insurance 
Medical coverage is provided to an employee only, depending on deductible, at no cost. A copy of the Summary Plan Document will be provided to each employee. Dependent coverage may be added for an additional expense. Coverage is effective 90 days after employment. Dental coverage is paid by the City for employees, and dependent dental coverage is available at a minimal expense to employees.
Life Insurance 
This is provided for each employee at no cost to the employee, and is based on employee's annual salary. There is double indemnity on an accidental death.
Social Security 
7.65% is paid by the employee and matched by the City.
Worker's Compensation 
Any employee injured on the job shall be covered by Worker's Compensation and will not be liable for medical costs. A full time employee will have his/her compensation benefits supplemented by the City so that he/she will receive full salary for six months.
Deferred Compensation 
Allows employees to take income out of their peak earning years and invest it to provide additional income during retirement. Income taxes are deferred until the employee retires or otherwise leaves the plan and begins receiving payments.
Longevity 
$4.00 each month for each year of creditable service with the City. You may choose to receive your longevity pay pro-rated each pay date, or you may choose to have the City accumulate your longevity pay throughout the year and receive a lump sum payment on the November 20th pay date.
