Achievements

Through the efforts of City Management and Staff, leadership of our Mayor and the cooperative work of Council, impressive achievements are being made during his term in office. In the area of economic development, several new businesses have opened in Odessa. The new growth and the expansion of existing local businesses have translated into many new jobs and continue to maintain jobs . The two largest new businesses are Family Dollar and Telvista.

Two new water parks have opened. A public transportation system has developed. Both are contributing to the quality of life in Odessa.

Goals

Here are some of the goals that I would like to accomplish for the City:
  • Public Safety/City Services
  • Upgrade infrastructure/water and sewer
  • Keep buildings and other property well maintained
  • Construct traffic interchange at JBS Parkway and Business I-20
  • Construct Fire Stations Number 4, Number 7 and Central Administration
Economic Development

  • Maintain leadership role in being pro-business in new business development, business retention and expansion of current businesses
  • Expand inter-local agreements with other governmental entities
Quality of Life

  • Continue to implement the Parks and Recreation Master Plan
  • Continue to improve the appearance of downtown
  • Develop an attractive corridor throughout the medical complex and beyond
To achieve these goals, the City of Odessa will need to form strong partnerships at every opportunity to accomplish these goals and fulfill the city's mission.

Finally, I firmly believe that we must strive to:
  • Control taxes
  • Maintain expected services
  • Continue to search for ways to improve efficiencies.
