Great Texas Warrant Roundup Begins Saturday, March 2
February 15, 2013 – The City of Odessa is participating in the annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning Saturday, March 2. Individuals with outstanding warrants will be the primary focus of Odessa Police Officers.
Anyone with a warrant is subject to arrest at any time and location, including their home, work or in public. To avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest, defendants can make payments during the next two weeks to dispose of their cases voluntarily.
Odessa Municipal court is offering defendants an opportunity to save money if they voluntarily dispose of their case between February 24 and March 1. During this six day period a $50 warrant fee will be waived per defendant.
Cash, check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard and Visa) payments are accepted online at trafficpayment.com or by calling 800.597.7077.
Defendants can also appear in person at Odessa Municipal Court, 201 North Grant, between 8 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday or between 8 am and 3 pm on Saturdays March 2 and 9.
Warrants will remain in effect until payment is received and posted by Municipal Court.
The warrants are a result of an individual’s failure to appear in person or in writing at the Odessa Municipal Court or failure to comply with a court order. Citations handled through the Odessa Municipal Court, and that could be part of the roundup, include traffic citations, parking tickets, code enforcement violations, failure to sterilize a pet adopted from the Odessa Animal Shelter, and other violations of the Odessa Municipal code or state law.
Anyone unsure if they have a warrant is encouraged to log on to the City of Odessa’s website, odessa-tx.gov, for a complete list of individuals with warrants.
The Great Texas Warrant Roundup is a cooperative effort between Texas law enforcement agencies in an effort crack down on outstanding warrants for misdemeanor violations.
