Odessa Police Investigating Fatality Crash in the 1400 Block of East Yukon

LOCATION: 1400 Block of East Yukon
SUMMARY:

On January 23, 2018 at approximately 0818 hours, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to the 1400 block of East Yukon in reference to a major crash.

Investigation revealed that a gray Buick Verano, being operated by Anna Paredes, 54 years of age, was stopped facing eastbound in the 1400 block of East Yukon and attempting to turn left into the Alternative Education Center parking lot.

A black Nissan Xterra, being operated by a 16-year-old female, was traveling eastbound in the 1400 block of East Yukon. A gray Dodge Durango, being operated by Albert Martinez, 19 years of age, was traveling westbound in the 1400 block of East Yukon. 

Investigation revealed that the Nissan Xterra struck the back of the Buick Verano, causing it to be pushed into oncoming traffic and then be struck by the Dodge Durango. Paredes was transported to Medical Center Hospital and later pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Next of kin have been notified.

The 16-year-old female and Martinez were both transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.

Shortly after the first crash occurred, a second crash occurred involving two more vehicles. Investigation revealed that a black Dodge Charger, being operated by Kendra Dees-Looney, 27 years of age, was traveling eastbound in the 1400 block of East Yukon.

A blue Chevrolet 1500 pickup was traveling eastbound in the 1400 block of East Yukon, directly behind the Dodge Charger. Investigation revealed that the Dodge Charger stopped in the roadway before being struck from behind by the Chevrolet 1500. There were no reports of any injuries.
