Odessa Police Charge Couple in Connection to Child Endangerment Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Jose Alfredo Heredia Jr., date of birth 11/20/1976 and Beverly Heredia, date of birth 10/02/1973, on 1-14-18 at approximately 1713 hours for Endangering a Child “State Jail Felony”. Officers responded to 2220 East 52nd Street (Summertree Place Apartments) in reference to a check welfare.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a Jose Heredia, Beverly Heredia and their daughter, identified as a 14-year-old female. Officers could smell an odor of synthetic marijuana coming from the front door. Beverly Heredia was unresponsive and drooling. Jose Heredia had dilated pupils and his responses were much delayed.
Officers found the odor of the drug to be overwhelming and observed a makeshift bong in plain view. The 14-year-old female had been located in a very small upstairs area, directly next to her parent’s room where they had been smoking with the door open. Officers could also smell an odor of synthetic marijuana inside of the 14-year-old’s room.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Jose Heredia and Beverly Heredia were both charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. Odessa Police notified CPS of the incident and the 14-year-old was released to a family member.
