Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Albertsons Robbery Investigation
Odessa Police arrested Timothy Eugene Thomas, date of birth 12/04/1974, on 1-10-18 at approximately 1920 hours for Robbery “2nd Degree Felony”. Officers responded to 1350 East 8th Street (Albertsons) in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect, identified as Thomas.
Investigation revealed that Thomas concealed merchandise on his person and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. When an Albertsons employee confronted Thomas about the unpaid merchandise, Thomas stated “Don’t make me reach for my weapon” and threatened to assault the employee.
The employee sustained bodily injury on his chest, a torn shirt and broken necklace as a result of the incident. Officers reviewed surveillance footage which confirmed the employee’s account. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Thomas was charged and arrested accordingly.
Expired Registration Leads to Arrest of Felon with Stolen Firearm
Odessa Police arrested Jason Lance Gordon, date of birth 08/06/1977, on 1-11-18 at approximately 1144 hours for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon “3rd Degree Felony” and Theft of a Firearm “State Jail Felony”. Officers observed a white Mercury Cougar traveling eastbound in the 500 block of West Murphy with an expired registration.
A traffic stop was conducted on the listed vehicle and the driver was identified as Gordon. Officers could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the listed vehicle. Officers discovered a Taurus .380 caliber pistol inside of Gordon’s jacket. Investigation revealed that Gordon was a convicted felon.
Further investigation revealed that the listed firearm had previously been reported stolen out of Ector County. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Gordon was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
