Odessa Police Charge High School Employee with Improper Relationship Between Educator & Student

Odessa Police have charged Elyssa Renteria Zuniga, date of birth 10/05/1991, with Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student “2nd Degree Felony”.
On January 3, 2018, an improper relationship between an educator and student report was made with the Odessa Police Department. The complainant advised that a high school employee had been involved in an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student.
Text messages were discovered between both subjects that were sexually explicit. The high school employee and 17-year-old male were interviewed by detectives and confirmed that sexually explicit text messages had been sent between both subjects.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, OPD detectives obtained a warrant for Zuniga, who was charged accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center today at approximately 1300 hours.
All administration questions in reference to Zuniga should be referred to the Ector County Independent School District.
