1-4-18 Arrest of the Day
Odessa Police charged Rory Deleon, date of birth 05/08/1966, on 12-28-17 with Theft “State Jail Felony”. Deleon was already in custody at the ECLEC on several unrelated charges: Possession of Cocaine “State Jail Felony”, Driving While License Invalid “Class B Misdemeanor”, Burglary of a Building (Midland Warrant) “State Jail Felony”, and Theft of Property (Crane Warrant) “State Jail Felony”.
Back on 12-7-17, Odessa Police responded to 4118 East 52nd Street (DBA Car-isma Carwash) in reference to a theft involving a coin operated machine. Investigation revealed that an unknown male subject stole a Unitec coin operated machine valued at approximately $25,000, which contained approximately $400 inside of it.
The suspect pulled up to the coin operated machine in a white 1998 Chevrolet Silverado and wrapped a chain around it before pulling it from the ground. The suspect left the scene with the coin operated machine, which was later recovered in the area of IH-20 and Dixie. Surveillance video positively identified the suspect as Deleon.
Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, OPD detectives obtained a theft warrant for Deleon. Officers later observed a white 1998 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the 1300 block of Laredo with defective tail lamps. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Deleon, who was charged accordingly.
