Odessa Police Make Arrest in Connection to Aggravated Assault Investigation

DATE/TIME REPORTED: December 18, 2017 at approximately 1700 hours
LOCATION: 2100 Block of North Washington
Odessa Police have made an arrest in connection to an aggravated assault investigation. Oscar Garcia, date of birth 06/04/1985, has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) “2nd Degree Felony”, Assault by Contact (Family Violence) “Class C Misdemeanor”, and Assault by Threat (Family Violence) “Class C Misdemeanor”.
On December 18, 2017 at approximately 1700 hours, Odessa Police responded to the 2100 block of North Washington in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 36-year-old male, who advised that his brother, identified as Garcia, had assaulted him with a metal pipe.
Investigation revealed that Garcia also pushed his 58-year-old mother. Officers observed grass on the back of the mother where she had been pushed to the ground. Garcia ran out the back door of the residence before officers arrived on scene. At approximately 1918 hours, Odessa Police responded to the same location in reference to another disturbance.
Investigation revealed that Garcia had returned to the residence and kicked open the front door while threatening to kill his 36-year-old brother. Garcia fled the scene before officers arrived. Officers searched the area and located Garcia hiding inside of a residence nearby. Garcia was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the ECLEC.
