11-3-17 Arrest of the Day
Odessa Police arrested Rafael Alvarez Jr., date of birth 07/12/1989, on 11-2-17 at approximately 0723 hours for Possession of Cocaine “Felony 2”, Forgery “Felony 3”, Unlawful Restraint (Warrant) “Felony 3”, Assault Family Violence (Warrant) “Felony 3”, Evading Arrest “State Jail Felony”, Possession of a Dangerous Drug “Class A Misdemeanor”, Possession of Marijuana – FTA (Warrant) “Felony 3”, and DWI – FTA (Warrant) “Class B Misdemeanor”.
Officers observed a white Ford Ranger run a red light at University and Dixie. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the listed vehicle at 38th and Dixie and the driver immediately exited and ran eastbound on foot. Officers caught the driver, later identified as Alvarez, in the 3600 block of Melody Lane. Officers found Alvarez to be in possession of approximately 12.5 grams of cocaine and 19 one hundred dollar bills that were counterfeit.
Officers also found Alvarez to be in possession of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone pills. Investigation revealed that Alvarez had four outstanding warrants, including three felony warrants and a prior conviction for evading. Based on the facts and circumstances presented during the investigation, Alavrez was charged and arrested accordingly and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.
