Advanced Metering Infrastructure

September 25, 2015 – Older residential water meters throughout the City are in the process of being replaced by new meters.

The City has contracted with US Bronco to replace older water meters to new meters with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The AMI meters provide efficient, accurate and enhanced usage of consumer water use. The detailed feedback provided by AMI meters assist in accurately identifying the amount of water being used and when the water is being used.

Due to the age of the meters that have been, or will be, replaced, these older meters may have been less accurate to the benefit of the user, meaning the user may have been using more water than was being reported by the meter. Because of the newer more efficient AMI meters, customers may notice a difference in water usage reflected on utility bills.

Customers are advised to do a thorough check of their plumbing infrastructure to ensure there are no leaks, slow drips or other unknown water usage occurring. The City of Odessa does offer a rebate program for citizens utilizing water efficient appliances. Please click here for more information on the Water Efficient Rebate Program. Citizens are further encouraged to use water wisely. A list of water conservation tips can be found here.

Concerned customers are welcome to contact Customer Service at 432-335-3204. A representative will be able to provide a detailed hourly consumption report of water usage, if the new AMI meter has been installed. Customers can click here to view a map of the areas where AMI installation has been completed.
