SAFE 2 SAVE is proud to celebrate nearly 8 months in Odessa with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30pm on Thursday, September 14 at Baskin Robbins, one of the apps newest partnering locations. SAFE 2 SAVE is a free app that rewards people for not texting and driving. Over 36 businesses in Odessa and the surrounding area have joined SAFE 2 SAVE’s mission and have partnered with the app to promote the safe driving initiative. “When I created the app, I wanted the focus to be on making safety fun. No one should text and drive, everybody knows that, but rewarding people for doing the right thing makes doing the right thing that much easier” said Marci Corry, owner and founder of SAFE 2 SAVE. As of September 1 it is officially illegal to text and drive in the state of Texas. Drivers found breaking the law will be fined upwards of $200. Corry expects hundreds of new users downloads in the next few weeks. “The app is more impactful and more timely than ever- you are now earning points towards free ice cream, queso or pizza for not breaking the law. What more could you want?” said Corry. The event is open to the public.
